The Euro and US Dollar cards offer a fixed exchange rate that gives users 5-10% more cash than if they purchase currency in a Bureau de Change at airports, or on the high street. Further savings are made as there are no commission charges which are frequently applied at airport Bureau de Change especially for smaller currency purchases. Also unlike some credit or debit cards which charge high withdrawal fees, the my Travel Cash withdrawal fees are capped at £1, €1.25 or $1.50 respectively. When used abroad the Multi-Currency card works in a similar way to debit and credit cards. A fee (a percentage of the transaction amount) is typically charged to the exchange rate at the time of the transaction. The my Travel Cash Multi-Currency Card only charges 1.5% compared with the majority of debit and credit cards that charge 3.0%. For example the Lloyds TSB credit card charges 2.99%. Credit and debit cards can also incur additional fees when used abroad in addition to a foreign currency charge. These include charges for using the card to pay for purchases, higher cash withdrawal fees and even interest which is accrued until such time as the card balance is settled.

The my Travel Cash Cards are accepted globally at over 30m merchants and 1.5m ATM's, wherever the MasterCard Acceptance Mark is displayed. An additional card is available to family and friends (minimum age 13 years), or as a spare card for emergencies (money can be transferred from a card that is lost or stolen on to a second card).
